The History of Neoprene
Today we know and use many of the man-made materials, including nylon and polyurethane, which were invented in the 1920s and 1930s. Neoprene is no exception.
Throughout the 1920s, DuPont scientists were using a number of widely known polymer compounds, a molecular name that was a chain of many smaller molecules. In one example, the team, including Wallace Carothers (the inventor of nylon), was based on the research of Nico-Albert, an expert on organic chemistry at the University of Notre Dame (Nicius Arthur Nieuwland). DuPont team jointly developed a natural rubber man-made materials. DuPont in 1931 DuPont’s trademark will be named DuPont.
